ROOTFINDA – TERMS OF SERVICE

  1. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

By accessing or using Rootfinda (“Service”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), you (“User”, “you”) agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

  1. WHAT ROOTFINDA IS — AND IS NOT

2.1 What Rootfinda Is

Rootfinda is an AI-powered self-reflection and personal wellbeing tool. It helps you explore your thoughts, feelings, and behavioural patterns through structured conversations informed by integrative psychology principles. It provides:

  • AI-guided conversations to support self-understanding and personal growth
  • A structured approach to self-reflection based on psychological frameworks including cognitive, emotional, attachment, and relational perspectives
  • A personalised “inner map” (psychological blueprint) that evolves as you engage with the service

2.2 What Rootfinda Is NOT

Rootfinda is not a clinical service. It is explicitly and entirely:

  • ❌ Not psychotherapy or mental health treatment
  • ❌ Not a medical device or healthcare service
  • ❌ Not a diagnostic tool for any mental health condition
  • ❌ Not crisis intervention or emergency mental health care
  • ❌ Not a replacement for a licensed mental health professional
  • ❌ Not operated or reviewed by human therapists or clinicians

No therapeutic, doctor-patient, or professional relationship is created by your use of this Service.

  1. ELIGIBILITY

3.1 Age

You must be at least 18 years old to use Rootfinda.

3.2 Suitability

Rootfinda is designed for individuals who are fundamentally stable and seeking self-understanding and personal growth. It is not appropriate if you are:

  • Experiencing active suicidal ideation or self-harm urges
  • In acute mental health crisis
  • Experiencing psychosis or severe psychiatric symptoms
  • In need of immediate clinical intervention

3.3 Geography

The Service is available in selected countries. We reserve the right to restrict access based on location.

  1. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

4.1 Account Security

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access.

4.2 Honest Use

You agree to engage with the Service honestly and to use it only for lawful personal purposes. You agree not to:

  • Attempt to circumvent, hack, or reverse-engineer the Service
  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service
  • Share your account with others
  • Use the Service to harass or harm others

4.3 Your Own Decisions

You are solely responsible for any decisions you make based on your use of Rootfinda. The Service provides structured self-reflection tools — not advice, diagnosis, or treatment. You must consult a licensed healthcare or mental health professional for any clinical concerns. Do not rely on Rootfinda as your sole source of mental health support.

  1. THE AI SYSTEM

5.1 Nature of the AI

Rootfinda uses large language models (AI) to generate responses. This AI:

  • Is a machine, not a human
  • Does not possess consciousness, genuine empathy, or clinical judgment
  • May produce responses that are inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for your situation
  • Cannot assess risk, provide crisis support, or replace human professional judgment

5.2 No Human Review

Rootfinda is a 100% AI-powered service. No human therapist or clinician reviews your conversations or psychological blueprint. All content you receive is AI-generated.

5.3 AI Limitations

You acknowledge that AI-generated content is provided for self-reflection and informational purposes only. It does not constitute professional advice of any kind. You should apply your own judgment to any insights the AI offers and disregard anything that does not feel accurate or relevant to you.

5.4 Data Consent

Your use of the Service requires us to process your conversation and psychological blueprint  content to generate AI responses and personalise your experience. This is covered by your acceptance of these Terms.

Separately, we may ask for your optional consent to use anonymised versions of your data to improve our AI models. This consent is collected at registration via a dedicated checkbox and can be withdrawn at any time via Settings > Privacy without affecting your access to the Service. Full details are set out in our Privacy Policy.

 

  1. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

6.1 Our Ownership

All content, features, software, AI models, and branding within the Service are owned by Rootfinda and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

6.2 Your Content

You retain ownership of your personal data and conversations. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process your content to provide and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

6.3 Your psychological blueprint

Your personal psychological blueprint is for your private use only. You may export it for personal use (e.g., to share with your own therapist) but may not commercialise or redistribute it.

  1. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION.

  1. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ROOTFINDA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Reliance on AI-generated content
  • Decisions made based on the Service
  • Mental health outcomes
  • Crisis situations not addressed by the Service

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR €100 / $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability exclusions. Where applicable law requires otherwise, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted.

  1. INDEMNIFICATION

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Rootfinda and its founders, employees, and affiliates from any claims, costs, or damages arising from your use or misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or any decisions or actions you take based on the Service.

  1. TERMINATION

You may delete your account at any time via Settings. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms, inappropriate use posing safety concerns, or with reasonable notice for any other reason. Sections covering disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification survive termination.

  1. DISPUTE RESOLUTION

11.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland, without regard to conflict of law principles.

11.2 EU Users

EU users retain all consumer protection rights under EU law and may bring disputes before courts in their country of residence.

11.3 US Users

Disputes shall be resolved through binding individual arbitration conducted by “Keskuskauppakamarin välityslautakunta”, ICC, LCIA, except for small claims (under $10,000) or intellectual property matters. You waive the right to jury trial and class actions.

  1. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

We may update these Terms and will notify you by email and in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
